How much does it cost to get out of Cancun Airport?

Short answer

It depends less on the option than on how it charges. The authorised airport taxi runs on a zone-regulated fare paid at the counter before you board: you learn it on arrival, not before. The bus and the shared shuttle charge per person. A private transfer charges per vehicle.

That is the difference that decides a group’s bill: our rate starts at $49 USD per vehicle — not per person — with taxes and tolls included, and it never changes by time of day or season. Current as of September 2026.

We do not publish the other options’ fares because we have no current official source to cite and they vary by zone and season. What we can compare is how each one works, and that is what is below.

Other people's rules change. This guide says how current its information is so you can judge it — and so we know when to check it again.

The useful question is not how much, it is how it charges

Two travellers and a group of six pay the same with us and very differently on a bus. Comparing "prices" without naming the unit helps nobody: the first thing to know about any option is whether the number quoted is per person or per vehicle.

The second is when you find out. A fare closed before you fly and one settled at a counter on arrival are not the same product, however similar the number ends up being.

Our rate: flat, per vehicle, paid online

We quote every destination at a per-vehicle price you see before paying and that does not change afterwards. It starts at $49 USD to the Hotel Zone and rises with distance; each destination has its own page with the exact figure and all three vehicles.

For a peso reference, that minimum works out at roughly 956 MXN at the 19.50 MXN per dollar rate our card payments use. It is indicative: the real charge is calculated at checkout, and PayPal charges in dollars with no conversion.

What does not get added at the end

Taxes, tolls and airport fees are already in. Payment is 100% online at booking, so your driver collects nothing at the kerb. Infant and booster seats are free on request, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.

There is no night rate and no high-season surcharge: the same route costs the same on a Tuesday in September as on 27 December.

What about Uber?

Uber exists in Cancun but will not pick you up at the terminal, so it does not belong in this price comparison as a way out. What the app dispatches there is an authorised taxi, at taxi rates. The full story, with dates and sources, is in the taxi, Uber and private transfer guide.

How each option charges

No third-party figures: just the mechanics, which is what you can verify before you fly.

Other questions about this

  • How much is a taxi from Cancun Airport?

The fare is regulated by zone and paid at the counter before you board, so you learn it on arrival rather than in advance. We do not publish a figure because we have no current official source to cite. Ours is flat and public: $49 USD per vehicle to the Hotel Zone, $89 to Playa del Carmen and $159 to Tulum, current as of September 2026.

  • Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle. A private van for 1 to 4 passengers costs the same whether you travel alone or four of you go, and there is one seating up to 10 for groups. That is the main difference from the bus and the shared shuttle, which sell a ticket per person.

  • Do I pay in pesos or dollars?

We publish in dollars. Card payments are charged in Mexican pesos at 19.50 MXN per dollar; PayPal charges in dollars with no conversion. You see the exact total before confirming payment.

  • Does the driver collect anything on arrival?

No. Payment is 100% online at booking and covers the whole transfer, with taxes, tolls and airport fees included. Nobody from our team will ask you for money in the terminal or at the kerb.

Where each fact comes from

Every third-party fact on this page, with where it came from and when.

  • Our fares come from our public rate sheet, current as of September 2026. They are the same ones this site charges online.
  • The peso reference uses the same rate our card payments apply, 19.50 MXN per dollar, and is indicative: the real charge is calculated at checkout.
  • We reproduce no ADO prices or timetables: they change and their source is ado.com.mx.
  • The authorised taxi fare is not published here for lack of a current official source to cite. It is paid at the airport counter, where it is posted.
