How do you get from Cancun Airport to Isla Mujeres?

Short answer

It is two legs and nobody sells them together: first the drive from the airport to the Puerto Juárez ferry terminal, then the crossing to the island. No vehicle takes you to Isla Mujeres — you get out at the pier.

The land leg takes about 20–35 min — it crosses the city of Cancun heading north — and with us it costs $49 USD per vehicle, taxes and tolls included, current as of September 2026. The ferry ticket is separate and bought at the terminal.

If your hotel is on the island, that is exactly the transfer you need: it drops you at the right pier, not in the Cancun Hotel Zone, which also has ferries but to a different point.

Leg 1: airport to the pier

Puerto Juárez sits north of the city of Cancun, so the drive does not take Highway 307 into the Riviera Maya: it crosses the city. What slows it down is city traffic, not the corridor.

It is an ordinary private transfer, except that it ends at a terminal rather than a hotel door. The rate, the times and what is included are on that route’s page.

Leg 2: the ferry

You buy the ticket at the terminal, directly from the ferry operator, and it is not included in any rate of ours: we do not sell ferries and we take no commission on them. They run through the day; timetables and fares are published by each operator and they change, so we do not reproduce them here — check them on the day you arrive.

The vehicle does not cross with you. If you are travelling with large suitcases, plan on taking them off at the pier and onto the ferry.

Do not mix up the two piers

There are two different departure points for Isla Mujeres in Cancun: Puerto Juárez, north of the city, and a pier in the Hotel Zone. They are not the same, they do not cost the same from the airport, and they do not land at the same point on the island.

Our transfer on this route goes to Puerto Juárez. If your plan leaves from the other one, tell us when you book: it is a different destination and a different rate, and it is better sorted before you pay than discovered at the wrong pier.

How to plan the total time

Add three things, not two: immigration and baggage at CUN, the drive to the pier, and the crossing plus the wait for the ferry. Our range covers only the middle one; the other two are not ours to control.

If you are flying home, plan the return with margin. Cancellation with us is free up to 24 hours before, so booking early ties you to nothing.
