Do you tip your Cancun transfer driver?

Short answer

A tip is welcome and never expected. Your fare is all-in and paid online before you fly: it covers the drive, taxes, tolls and airport fees, and your driver collects nothing at the kerb — no card reader, no balance, no "airport commission".

So nothing is missing if you tip nothing. If you do want to, cash is the practical way, because there is no terminal in the vehicle and the online payment is already closed.

We are not going to publish a suggested amount. We have no source to cite for what is customary, and a number published by the company being tipped stops reading as a custom and starts reading as a charge.

What the fare already covers

The price you see per destination includes the whole drive, taxes, tolls and airport fees. It also includes the things that usually turn into extras elsewhere: meeting you outside the terminal with a sign, tracking your flight, waiting if you land late, infant, child, booster seats on request, and bottled water on board.

It is flat per vehicle — not per person — and it does not rise by time of day or season. Nothing about a tip changes any of that.

If you want to leave one

Cash is simplest. Pesos or dollars both work in Cancun; small notes are easier for anyone to break than large ones. Hand it to the driver directly rather than adding it to anything online — the payment for the ride is already settled and closed.

You are tipping the person, not the company. It does not reach us and we do not take a cut.

There is a free way to say thank you

If the ride went well and you would rather not carry cash, a review helps the driver and the company more than a small tip does. It is the one thing a small operator cannot buy and cannot fake, and it is what the next traveller reads before deciding.

It takes a minute. If something went wrong instead, tell us on WhatsApp before you write it — we would rather fix it than read about it.
